Health and Wellbeing
Smoking, drinking, a bad diet and poor levels of fitness can lead to higher rates of long-term illness. This can have a major impact on the lifespan and well being of members of the community who also have limited access to health services.
By 2011, the Partnership aim to:
Reduce the proportion of adults smoking to national levels.
Improve general health by helping those in poor health to recuperate from chronic illness, ensuring a better quality of life that is in line with the national rate.
Increase access to frontline medical services through the construction of a healthy living centre in South Kilburn, that will provide modern GP and community health facilities. Continue to encourage residents to access their local health service — in line with the national average.
Boost fitness access and provision by providing better opportunities for South Kilburn residents to play sports, ensuring that they understand the real benefits of regular exercise. Increase participation in physical activity to at least three 30 minute moderate exercise sessions per week – in line with the borough.
Decrease long-term illness by reducing the number of households with someone with a long-term illness – in line with the national level.
Tackle mental health issues by decreasing the number of people admitted to hospital with emotional or mental health problems – in line with the borough’s average.
